The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 And fruits numberless, 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 and upraised couches. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
