The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ WHEN WHAT IS to happen comes to pass -- 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 And a few of later ages, 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 Their heads shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses. 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 And wide eyed houris 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 And extended shade, 30 And water poured out 31 and fruit abounding, 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 And raised couches. 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 loving and of equal age. 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
