The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 And you shall be three sorts. 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 facing one another. 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 and amid the extended shade 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 and fruits abounding 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 and upraised couches. 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 and made them virgins, 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 like of age for the Companions of the Right. 38
