The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 But the foremost shall be [they who in life were] the foremost [in faith and good works]: 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 on lavish couches 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 And water everflowing. 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 And raised couches. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 So made them as maidens. 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
