The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 When the earth is shaken 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 a host of the ancients 13 And a few of later ages, 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 that will neither make the head throb, nor intoxicate, 19 And with fruits, any that they may select: 20 And the flesh of fowl such as they desire. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 like hidden pearls, 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 and clustered bananas, 29 And shade extended 30 near to flowing water 31 and abundant fruits, 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 and raised couches 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 Lovers, friends, 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
