The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ WHEN WHAT IS to happen comes to pass -- 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 In gardens of delight; 12 a good many of those of olden times, 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness), 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 and waters gushing, 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 And exalted thrones. 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 We have made them virgins, 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
