The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 Who will be honoured 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 on lavish couches 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 And (there will be) Houris (fair females) with wide, lovely eyes (as wives for the pious), 22 like hidden pearls, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 and banana trees, 29 and spreading shade 30 and flowing water 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 and upraised couches. 34 We have indeed developed these women with an excellent development. 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 For those on the right hand; 38
