The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 And you shall be three sorts. 7 Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 On thrones decorated, 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 And wide eyed houris 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 and banana trees, 29 And shade extended 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high. 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 full of love, well-matched 37 For the Companions of the Right Hand. 38
