۞ Gather together those who were unjust and their associates, and what they used to worship 22 instead of God, and lead them all onto the way to the blazing fire, 23 and halt them [there]!" [And then,] behold, they shall be asked, 24 'But what is the matter with you that you cannot help one another?,'" 25 But they, that Day, are in surrender. 26 And they will advance toward each other mutually questioning. 27 saying: 'You used to come to us from the right hand' 28 They will say, "No! It was you who would not believe -- 29 we had no authority over you; no, you were an insolent people. 30 Now the Word of our Lord hath been fulfilled concerning us. Lo! we are about to taste (the doom). 31 we perverted you, indeed, we were perverts' 32 So, they will become partners in punishment. 33 Verily, thus shall We deal with all who were lost in sin: 34 They were the ones, who on being told, "God is only One," become puffed-up with pride 35 and said, "Should we give up our idols for the sake of an insane poet". 36 (They say so although) he brought the Truth and confirmed the veracity of the Messengers. 37 (They will be told), "You will certainly suffer the painful torment 38 and will be recompensed only for what you deserve. 39 Save the servants of Allah, the purified ones. 40 Whose provision is predetermined -- 41 fruits. And they are receivers of generosity 42 In gardens of delight, 43 On couches facing one another; 44 Round will be passed to them a Cup from a clear-flowing fountain, 45 Clear, delicious to drink, 46 There shall be no trouble in it, nor shall they be exhausted therewith. 47 And with them will be chaste females, restraining their glances (desiring none except their husbands), with wide and beautiful eyes. 48 As if they were (delicate) eggs closely guarded. 49 Then one turned to the other in an enquiry. 50 A speaker of them saith: Lo! I had a comrade 51 "Who used to say, 'what! art thou amongst those who bear witness to the Truth (of the Message)? 52 ‘That when we are dead and have turned into dust and bones, that we will either be rewarded or punished?’ 53 He saith: Will ye look? 54 Then he looks, and sees him in the midst of Hell. 55 He shall say: By Allah! you had almost caused me to perish; 56 But for the Favor of Allah I should have surely been among those who were arraigned (with you in Hell). 57 Are we not then to die 58 except our first death, and shall we not be punished' 59 Most surely this is the mighty achievement. 60 For the like of this, then, let the workers work. 61 Is this better as an entertainment or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 Which We have reserved as punishment for evil-doers? 63 It is a tree that grows in the nethermost part of Hell. 64 The shoots of its fruit-stalks are like the heads of Shayatin (devils); 65 Truly, they will eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith. 66 Then after it, indeed for them is the drink of boiling hot water. 67 And thereafter verily their return is unto the Flaming Fire. 68 They had found their fathers astray, 69 and they run in their footsteps. 70 And there had already strayed before them most of the former peoples, 71 And indeed We sent among them warners (Messengers); 72 See how those who were warned met their end! 73 Other than the chosen creatures of God. 74
