The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth is shaken 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 And the flesh of fowl such as they desire. 21 And (there will be) Houris (fair females) with wide, lovely eyes (as wives for the pious), 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 and amid the extended shade 30 And water everflowing. 31 and fruit abounding, 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 and raised couches 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 So made them as maidens. 36 Lovers, friends, 37 for those on the Right, 38
