The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Terror descends 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 and the mountains are shattered into [countless] shards, 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 And a few of later ages, 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 reclining on them, arrayed face to face; 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 and spreading shade 30 And water gushing, 31 and fruit abounding, 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 And raised couches; 34 We have created maidens perfectly 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
