Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
HAS THERE COME unto thee the tiding of the Overshadowing Event? 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 laboring, wornout, 3 Entering into burning fire, 4 The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring, 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 In that day other faces will be calm, 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 They will be in a lofty Garden 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 In it there shall be a flowing spring, 12 and couches raised high, 13 Goblets set, 14 And cushions ranged 15 And carpets spread out. 16 What, do they not consider how the camel was created, 17 And at the sky, how it is raised aloft? 18 how the mountains are set firm, 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 and verily, It is for Us to call them to account. 26
