The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 a host of the ancients 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 on lavish couches 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 like hidden pearls, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 In shade long-extended, 30 Gushing water, 31 And abundant fruit, 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 And made them virgins. 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 For those on the right. 38
