The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN WHAT IS to happen comes to pass -- 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 and the mountains are shattered into [countless] shards, 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 And ye are classes three. 7 So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 In gardens of delight; 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 along with fruits of their choice; 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit in plenty 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 and raised couches 34 We have indeed developed these women with an excellent development. 35 We have made them virgins, 36 chastely amorous, 37 for those on the Right, 38
