The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 Who will be honoured 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 a good many of those of olden times, 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 And clustered plantains, 29 and spreading shade 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 undiminished and never denied 33 And couches raised up. 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 And made them virgins, 36 Lovers, friends, 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
