The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 and the mountains are shattered into [countless] shards, 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 In gardens of delight; 12 A multitude of those of old 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 reclining upon them, facing one another [in love]. 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 and spreading shade 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 undiminished and never denied 33 And raised couches; 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 And made them virgins, 36 loving and of equal age. 37 for the people of the right hand 38
