The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 Abasing exalting. 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 They shall be the nearest to God. 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 a host of the ancients 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 On studded thrones. 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 They will have maidens with large, lovely black and white eyes, 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 And extended shade, 30 and flowing water 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 We have indeed developed these women with an excellent development. 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 For the Companions of the Right Hand. 38
