The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 and a few from later times. 14 On thrones decorated, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness), 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 along with fruits of their choice; 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 In shade long-extended, 30 Gushing water, 31 and abundant fruits, 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 and upraised couches. 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 and made them virgins, 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 For those on the right. 38
