The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 And you shall be three sorts. 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 and only a few of them from the later generations. 14 on lavish couches 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 Their heads shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses. 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 In shade long-extended, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 And carpets raised. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
