A multitude of those of old 39 And a large group from the latter. 40 As for the Companions of the Left 41 mid burning winds and boiling waters 42 And shadow of black smoke, 43 [shadows] neither cooling nor soothing. 44 They had been affluent before, 45 and had persisted in the Great Sin. 46 and would say: "What! After we have died and become mere dust and bones, shall we, forsooth, be raised from the dead? 47 (We) and our fore-fathers of yore?” 48 Say: "Verily, those of olden times and those of later times 49 “They will all be gathered together – on the appointed time of the known day.” 50 Then you people who had gone astray and rejected the Truth 51 "You verily will eat of the trees of Zaqqum. 52 and fill your bellies with it, 53 "And drink Boiling Water on top of it: 54 drink it as the most insatiably thirsty camels drink!" 55 Such will be their welcome on Judgment Day! 56 We have created you: why then do you not accept the truth? 57 Have you seen sperm? 58 Is it ye who create it, or are We the Creators? 59 We have decreed death among you, and We are not to be outdone 60 from changing your Forms and creating you (again) in (forms) that ye know not. 61 And you have already known the first creation, so will you not remember? 62 Just ponder over what you sow: 63 Do you yourselves sow it, or are We the Sowers? 64 Were it Our Will, We could crumble it to dry pieces, and you would be regretful (or left in wonderment). 65 Surely we are burdened with debt: 66 Rather, we have been prevented' 67 Have ye observed the water which ye drink? 68 Is it you that send it down from the clouds, or are We the senders? 69 If We pleased, We would have made it salty; why do you not then give thanks? 70 Have you seen the fire which you kindle? 71 Is it you who grew its tree, or is it We Who create? 72 It is We who have made it as a reminder and a means of comfort for the people. 73 So glorify your Lord, the most supreme. 74
