The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By oath of (mount) Tur. 1 and the Book inscribed 2 In parchment spread open 3 And the House (Kaaba) that is visited, 4 and by the lofty vault of the sky, 5 and by the swelling sea, 6 The punishment of your Lord is certain to come. 7 There is none that can ward it off. 8 On the day when the heaven will heave with (awful) heaving, 9 And the mountains shall pass away passing away (altogether). 10 Then woe that Day to those that treat (Truth) as Falsehood;- 11 Who, ignoring the Reality, engage in pleasantries. 12 The day they are dragged and pushed into Hell, 13 This is the Fire which you used to belie. 14 Is this magic, or do you not see? 15 "Burn ye therein: the same is it to you whether ye bear it with patience, or not: Ye but receive the recompense of your (own) deeds." 16 Verily the God-fearing will be in Gardens and Delight. 17 Delighted at the bestowal of their Lord; and their Lord has saved them from the fire. 18 (They will be told): “Eat and drink to your hearts' content as a reward for your deeds.” 19 They will recline on couches arranged in rows and We shall couple them with maidens with large, lovely eyes. 20 We shall unite the believers with those descendants of theirs who followed them in their faith, and shall not deny them any part of the reward for their good deeds. Every person is pledged to what he did. 21 And We shall provide them with fruit and meat, such as they desire. 22 There they will pass a goblet to one another with neither idle talk nor sin, 23 ۞ And there will go round boy-servants of theirs, to serve them as if they were preserved pearls. 24 And they will advance unto each other asking questions. 25 Saying: "We were also once full of fear at home. 26 "But Allah has been good to us, and has delivered us from the Penalty of the Scorching Wind. 27 Verily, we did invoke Him [alone] ere this: [and now He has shown us] that He alone is truly benign, a true dispenser of grace!" 28
