The Column (Al-Suff)
14 verses, revealed in Medina after Mutual Blaming (Al-Taghaabun) before Friday (Al-Jumu'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Everything in the heavens and earth glorifies God -- He is the Almighty, the Wise. 1 O ye who believe! Why say ye that which ye do not? 2 Great is hatred in the sight of Allah that you say what you do not do. 3 Indeed, Allah loves those who fight in His cause in a row as though they are a [single] structure joined firmly. 4 Now when Moses spoke to his people, [it was this same truth that he had in mind:] "O my people! Why do you cause me grief, the while you know that I am an apostle of God sent unto you?" And so, when they swerved from the right way, God let their hearts swerve from the truth: for God does not bestow His guidance upon iniquitous folk. 5 And [mention] when Jesus, the son of Mary, said, "O children of Israel, indeed I am the messenger of Allah to you confirming what came before me of the Torah and bringing good tidings of a messenger to come after me, whose name is Ahmad." But when he came to them with clear evidences, they said, "This is obvious magic." 6 And who is a greater wrong-doer than he who fabricateth against Allah a lie even as he is summoned unto Islam? And Allah guideth not a wrongdoing people. 7 They seek to extinguish Allah's light (by blowing) with their mouths, but Allah shall spread His light in all its fullness, howsoever the unbelievers may abhor this. 8 He it is Who hath sent His apostle with the guidance and the true religion, that He may make it triumph over all religion, even though averse may be the associaters. 9

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
