Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The Indubitable! 1 What is the concrete reality? 2 And what will make thee realise what the Sure Reality is? 3 Thamud and 'Aad denied the Striking Calamity. 4 Then as to Samood, they were destroyed by an excessively severe punishment. 5 And as for A’ad, they were destroyed by a severe thundering windstorm. 6 Which He sent to assail them for seven nights and eight days running. You should have seen the people prostrate like the decayed trunks of date-palm trees. 7 and dost thou now see any remnant of them? 8 And there was Pharaoh, too, and [many of] those who lived before him, and the cities that were overthrown - [all of them] indulged in sin upon sin 9 And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, so He seized them with a seizure exceeding [in severity]. 10 When the water rose in flood, We bore you in the ark, 11 making it a Reminder for you, for all attentive ears to retain. 12 When a single blow is blown on the Horn, 13 And the earth with the mountains shall be lifted up and crushed with one crash, 14 Then, on that day will the Event befall. 15 The sky will cleave asunder on that day and fall to pieces. 16 and will turn frail, losing all force. The angels will be around the heavens and on that day eight of them will carry the Throne of your Lord above all the creatures. 17 On that Day you will be brought to judgement and none of your secrets will remain hidden. 18 Then as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand will say: "Take, read my Record! 19 Surely I knew that I should have to meet my reckoning. 20 Then he will be in blissful state 21 in a lofty paradise, 22 Clusters whereof shall be near at hand. 23 Such people will be told, "Eat and drink with pleasure as the reward for what you did in the past". 24 But as for him who is given his book in his left hand, he shall say, 'Would that I had not been given my book 25 and had not known my account. 26 Would that it (my death) had ended it all! 27 Of no use was even my wealth. 28 Vanished has my power from me." 29 [Thereupon the command will go forth:] "Lay hold of him, and shackle him, 30 Then cast him into the burning fire, 31 Fasten a chain to them - seventy cubits long - 32 for he did not believe in Almighty God, 33 Nor did he urge the feeding of the poor. 34 Today he has been left here friendless; 35 Nor any food except from the discharge of wounds; 36 which no one will eat except the sinners. 37
