Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The sure calamity! 1 What is the Inevitable Hour? 2 And what will make you know what the Reality is? 3 The people of Thamud and Ad denied the Day of Judgment. 4 But the Thamud,- they were destroyed by a terrible Storm of thunder and lightning! 5 And as for A'ad, they were destroyed by a fierce roaring wind, 6 which continued to strike them for seven nights and eight days so that eventually you could see the people lying dead like the hollow trunks of uprooted palm-trees. 7 Do you see any remnants of them? 8 Pharoah and those before him and the inhabitants of the overthrown cities persistently committed grave sins. 9 They did not follow the Messenger of their Lord, and so He seized them with a severe grip. 10 Lo! when the waters rose, We carried you upon the ship 11 In order to make it a remembrance for you, and in order that the ears that store may remember. 12 With the first blast of sound from the trumpet, 13 And the earth and the mountains shall be borne and the twain shall be crushed with a single crash. 14 Then on that Day shall happen the Event. 15 And the heaven will split [open], for that Day it is infirm. 16 And the angels are at its edges. And there will bear the Throne of your Lord above them, that Day, eight [of them]. 17 On that day all of you will be brought forth, so none among you wishing to hide will be able to hide. 18 Those who will receive the books of the records of their deeds in their right hands will say, "Come and read my record. 19 "I did really understand that my Account would (One Day) reach me!" 20 Then he shall find himself in a life of bliss; 21 In an elevated garden, 22 The Fruits whereof (will hang in bunches) low and near. 23 Eat and drink pleasantly for what you did beforehand in the days gone by. 24 But, he who is given his book in his left hand will say: 'Woe to me, would that my book had not been given to me! 25 Nor that I knew my reckoning! 26 Oh! Would that the death that came to me in the world had made an end of me! 27 Of no use was even my wealth. 28 my authority is gone from me.' 29 (A command will be issued): “Seize him and shackle him, 30 And then expose him to hell-fire 31 Then thrust him into a chain the length of which is seventy cubits. 32 "This was he that would not believe in Allah Most High. 33 And urged not on the feeding of the wretched. 34 So no friend has he here this Day, 35 Nor food other than suppuration (filth) 36 which no one will eat except the sinners. 37
