Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
HAS NEWS OF the Overpowering Event reached you? 1 Faces on that day humbled, 2 labouring, weary, 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 Made to drink water from the boiling hot spring. 5 no food for them but cactus thorn 6 Which will neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy, 8 Well-pleased because of their striving, 9 in a garden sublime, 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 Therein will be thrones raised high, 13 And cups set at hand. 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 and rich carpets levelled out. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 And at the sky, how it is raised aloft? 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 And the earth, how it is spread? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
