Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ THE CONCRETE REALITY. 1 What is the Reality? 2 And what can make you know what is the Inevitable Reality? 3 The tribes of Thamud and 'Ad denied that disaster would strike them: 4 Then as to Samood, they were destroyed by an excessively severe punishment. 5 And the 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious Wind, exceedingly violent; 6 Which Allah imposed upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so you would see the people therein fallen as if they were hollow trunks of palm trees. 7 Then seest thou any of them left surviving? 8 Similarly, Pharaoh, and those before him, and the ruined villages, sinned 9 And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, so He seized them with a seizure exceeding [in severity]. 10 We, when the water (of Noah's Flood) overflowed beyond its limits, carried you (mankind), in the floating (Ark), 11 That We might make it a remembrance for you, and the keen ear (person) may (hear and) understand it. 12 With the first blast of sound from the trumpet, 13 and the earth and the mountains shall be lifted up and crushed with a single stroke! 14 on that Day, the Event occurs. 15 and the heavens will be rent asunder, 16 And the angels will be on the sides thereof, and eight will uphold the Throne of thy Lord that day, above them. 17 You will then be set before Him, and not one of you will remain unexposed. 18 Then he who is given his record in his right hand will exclaim, "Here is my record, read it. 19 Indeed, I was certain that I would be meeting my account." 20 His shall be a pleasing life 21 In an elevated garden, 22 With fruits hanging low within reach, 23 (And it will be said unto those therein): Eat and drink at ease for that which ye sent on before you in past days. 24 As for him whose Record will be given to him in his left hand, he will exclaim: “Would that I had never been given my Record, 25 “And had never come to know my account!” 26 Oh, would that it had been death! 27 My riches have availed me not; 28 There hath perished from me my authority. 29 Lay hold of him and chain him; 30 and then roast him in Hell, 31 Then, in a chain whereof the length is seventy Cubits, bind him. 32 He did not believe in Allah, the Great, 33 nor did he urge the feeding of the needy. 34 “So he does not have any friend here this day.” 35 Nor any food except from the discharge of wounds; 36 which only the sinners will eat.” 37
