Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Inevitable! (Day of Judgment). 1 What is the Inevitable Calamity? 2 And what will make you know what the Reality is? 3 The Thamud and the 'Ad People (branded) as false the Stunning Calamity! 4 So as for Thamud, they were destroyed by the overpowering [blast]. 5 And as for 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious violent wind; 6 To which He subjected them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so that thou mightest have seen men during it lying prostrate, as though they were stumps of palms ruined. 7 Do you then see of them one remaining? 8 And Firon and those before him and the overthrown cities continuously committed sins. 9 And they disobeyed their Lord's apostle, so He laid hold of them with a grip increasing. 10 We, when the water (of Noah's Flood) overflowed beyond its limits, carried you (mankind), in the floating (Ark), 11 so that We might make it a reminder for you and so that attentive ears might retain it. 12 Then when the Trumpet will be blown with one blowing (the first one), 13 And the earth and the mountains are lifted and leveled with one blow - 14 So that is the day when the forthcoming event will occur. 15 The heaven will be split; because on that Day it will be frail. 16 The angels will stand on all its sides. And on that Day, eight (of them) will carry the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 That Day, you will be exhibited [for judgement]; not hidden among you is anything concealed. 18 Then he who is given his record in his right hand will exclaim, "Here is my record, read it. 19 Verily I was sure that I should be a meeter of my reckoning. 20 So he shall be in a life of pleasure, 21 in a lofty paradise, 22 with its fruits within easy reach. 23 Such people will be told, "Eat and drink with pleasure as the reward for what you did in the past". 24 And as for him who is given his book in his left hand he shall say: O would that my book had never been given me: 25 and knew nothing of my reckoning. 26 Would it had been the end! 27 "My wealth has not availed me, 28 My authority is gone away from me. 29 [Thereupon the command will go forth:] "Lay hold of him, and shackle him, 30 Then cast him into the burning fire, 31 “Then bind him inside a chain which is seventy arm-lengths.” 32 Verily, He used not to believe in Allah, the Most Great, 33 and did not feel any urge to feed the needy: 34 and so, no friend has here today, 35 Nor any food except refuse, 36 Which none but the wrongdoers eat. 37
