The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
A beseecher besought the visitation of chastisement, 1 which will inevitably seize the disbelievers. 2 From God, the Lord of the steps (of progression), 3 To Him the angels and the Spirit mount up, in a day whereof the measure is fifty thousand years. 4 So persevere with becoming patience. 5 Indeed, they see it [as] distant, 6 But We see it very near. 7 On the day when the heaven shall be as molten copper 8 And the mountains shall be as tufts of wool 9 And no friend will ask concerning his friend. 10 though they may be in one another's sight: [for,] everyone who was lost in sin will on that Day but desire to ransom himself from suffering at the price of his own children, 11 and his spouse and his brother, 12 And his kindred who sheltered him, 13 and all those on earth. 14 Never! That is indeed a blazing fire. 15 will strip-off the flesh 16 It shall insistently summon him who turned his back and retreated, 17 and amassed wealth and hoarded it. 18 ۞ Truly man was created very impatient;- 19 when evil visits him, impatient, 20 And, when good befalleth him, grudging; 21 save those that pray 22 Who persevere in devotion, 23 In whose wealth a due share is included 24 for the beggar and the outcast, 25 And those who believe in the Day of Recompense 26 And those who are fearful of the punishment of their Lord - 27 surely the chastisement of their Lord is a thing none can feel secure from – 28 those who preserve their chastity 29 Except with their wives and the bondwomen in their possession, for there is no reproach on them. 30 but whoever goes beyond this is a transgressor; 31 and those who are faithful to their trusts and to their pledges; 32 and standby their witnessing, 33 And those who of their prayer are observant. 34 Those shall be in gardens, honored. 35
