Noah (Nooh)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
We sent Noah to his nation, saying: 'Give warning to your nation before a painful punishment overtakes them' 1 He said: "O my People! I am to you a Warner, clear and open: 2 That you should serve Allah and be careful of (your duty to) Him and obey me: 3 so that He may forgive you some of your sins, and grant you respite until a term known [to Him alone]: but, behold, when the term appointed by God does come, it can never be put back - if you but knew it!" 4 'My Lord' said he, 'night and day I have called my nation, 5 But the more I called, they only ran the farther away. 6 And indeed, every time I invited them that You may forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, covered themselves with their garments, persisted, and were arrogant with [great] arrogance. 7 Then I called them openly, 8 Then I announced to them and [also] confided to them secretly 9 and told them, "Ask forgiveness from your Lord; He is All-forgiving". 10 and He will loose heaven upon you in torrents 11 And give you increase in wealth and children and provide for you gardens and provide for you rivers. 12 strengthen you by (providing) you wealth and children, and make gardens and streams for you. What is the matter with you that you are not afraid of the greatness of God 13 While He has created you in (different) stages [i.e. first Nutfah, then 'Alaqah and then Mudghah, see (VV. 23:13, 14) the Quran]. 14 Do you not see how God has fashioned seven skies one above the other, 15 And has placed the moon therein, an illumination, and has placed the sun, a lighted lamp? 16 Allah has caused you to grow out of the earth, 17 ‘And He will then take you back to it, and again remove you from it.” 18 And Allah hath made the earth a wide expanse for you 19 so that you might walk thereon on spacious paths.'" 20
