In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
WE SENT NOAH to his people to warn them before the painful punishment came upon them. 1 [And Noah] said: "O my people! I am but a plain warner to you, [sent to tell you] 2 that you should worship God [alone] and be conscious of Him. "Now do pay heed unto me, 3 That He may forgive you somewhat of your sins and respite you to an appointed term. Lo! the term of Allah, when it cometh, cannot be delayed, if ye but knew. 4 He said: my Lord! Verily I have called my people night and day. 5 But the more I called, they only ran the farther away. 6 Every time I have called to them, so that You might forgive them, they have only thrust their fingers into their ears, covered themselves up with their garments, grown obstinate, and given themselves up to arrogance. 7 Then indeed I called them openly; 8 “Then I also told them publicly and also spoke to them softly in private.” 9 I said to them: “Ask forgiveness from your Lord; surely He is Most Forgiving. 10 He will send down abundant rain from the sky for you, 11 and will succour you with wealth and sons, and will appoint for you gardens, and will appoint for you rivers. 12 What is the matter with you, [that you fear not Allah (His punishment), and] you hope not for reward (from Allah or you believe not in His Oneness). 13 ‘Whereas it is He Who created you in different stages?’ 14 "Have you not seen that God has created the seven heavens one above the other 15 "'And made the moon a light in their midst, and made the sun as a (Glorious) Lamp? 16 And Allah has brought you forth from the (dust of) earth. [Tafsir At-Tabari, Vol. 29, Page 97]. 17 and to it He will return you. Then, He will bring you forth. 18 And Allah has made for you the earth wide spread (an expanse). 19 That you may go about therein in broad roads. 20

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
