Noah (Nooh)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
We sent Noah to his people, saying, 'Warn thy people, ere there come on them a painful chastisement.' 1 He said, "O my people, indeed I am to you a clear warner, 2 "That you should worship Allah (Alone), be dutiful to Him, and obey me, 3 Allah will forgive you of your sins and delay you for a specified term. Indeed, the time [set by] Allah, when it comes, will not be delayed, if you only knew.' " 4 Noah said, "My Lord, I have been preaching to my people, night and day, 5 but my call has only caused them to flee farther and farther away [from Thee]. 6 Every time I have called to them, so that You might forgive them, they have only thrust their fingers into their ears, covered themselves up with their garments, grown obstinate, and given themselves up to arrogance. 7 “I then called them openly.” 8 Then verily I spake unto them openly and secretly. I also addressed them. 9 "I said (to them): 'Ask forgiveness from your Lord; Verily, He is Oft-Forgiving; 10 He will send down upon you the cloud, pouring down abundance of rain: 11 And give you increase in wealth and children and provide for you gardens and provide for you rivers. 12 "'What is the matter with you, that ye place not your hope for kindness and long-suffering in Allah,- 13 when He has created you in stages? 14 "Have you not seen that God has created the seven heavens one above the other 15 And has placed the moon therein, an illumination, and has placed the sun, a lighted lamp? 16 ‘And it is Allah Who made you grow like vegetation from the earth.’ 17 He will then return you back to it, and bring you out again. 18 how God has spread the earth out for you 19 so that you might walk thereon on spacious paths.'" 20
