Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
O you (Prophet Muhammad) wrapped, 1 Stand up for worship during the night, except for some part of it. 2 For half the night, or reduce some from it. 3 Or a little more; and recite the Quran (aloud) in a slow, (pleasant tone and) style. 4 Verily, We shall send down to you a weighty Word (i.e. obligations, legal laws, etc.). 5 Indeed, the hours of the night are more effective for concurrence [of heart and tongue] and more suitable for words. 6 surely in the day thou hast long business. 7 And remember the Name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with a complete devotion. 8 [He is] the Lord of the East and the West; there is no deity except Him, so take Him as Disposer of [your] affairs. 9 And bear with patience what they utter, and part from them with a fair leave-taking. 10 And leave Me Alone to deal with the beliers (those who deny My Verses, etc.), and those who are in possession of good things of life. And give them respite for a little while. 11 With Us are Fetters (to bind them), and a Fire (to burn them), 12 and a food that chokes, and a grievous chastisement. 13 On the Day when the earth and the mountains will be in violent shake, and the mountains will be a heap of sand poured out and flowing down. 14 Indeed, We have sent to you a Messenger as a witness upon you just as We sent to Pharaoh a messenger. 15 But the Pharaoh disobeyed the apostle; so We seized him with a grievous punishment. 16 How, then, if you refuse to acknowledge the truth, will you protect yourselves on that Day which shall turn the hair of children grey, 17 The heaven shall rend asunder thereby; His promise is ever brought to fulfillment. 18 This is indeed an advice; so whoever wishes may take the path towards his Lord. 19
