Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
You, who have wrapped yourself up with a mantle, 1 worship (God) for a few hours at night. 2 half the night, or a little less 3 or a little more; and with recitation, recite the Koran. 4 Verily We! anon We shall cast upon thee a weighty word. 5 Indeed, the hours of the night are more effective for concurrence [of heart and tongue] and more suitable for words. 6 Verily, there is for you by day prolonged occupation with ordinary duties, 7 And remember the Name of thy Lord, and devote thyself unto Him very devoutly. 8 He is the Lord of the East and the West. There is no god but He. So take Him alone as your protector. 9 And bear patiently the vain things they utter, and gracefully forsake them. 10 And leave Me Alone to deal with the beliers (those who deny My Verses, etc.), and those who are in possession of good things of life. And give them respite for a little while. 11 Verily with Us are heavy fetters and Scorch. 12 and a food that chokes, and a grievous chastisement. 13 On the day when the earth and the mountains shall quake and the mountains shall become (as) heaps of sand let loose. 14 We have sent a messenger who is a witness over you, just as We sent a messenger to Pharoah before you. 15 But Pharoah rebelled against the messenger, so We seized him with a strong, crushing grip. 16 If you disbelieve, how will you guard yourself against the Day that will make children gray haired, 17 The very heaven being then rent asunder. His promise is to be fulfilled. 18 This is indeed a Reminder. Let whosoever will take the Path to his Lord. 19
