Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O YOU ENWRAPPED in the cloak (of Prophethood), 1 Keep vigil the night long, save a little - 2 half of it, or reduce it a little; 3 and recite the Quran in a distinct tone; 4 Verily We! anon We shall cast upon thee a weighty word. 5 Surely in the watches of the night the soul is most receptive and words more telling. 6 You are indeed much occupied during the day with the affairs of the world. 7 But [whether by night or by day,] remember thy Sustainer's name, and devote thyself unto Him with utter devotion. 8 [He is] the Lord of the East and the West; there is no deity except Him, so take Him as Disposer of [your] affairs. 9 Bear patiently with what they say, and ignore them politely. 10 And leave Me alone [to deal] with those who give the lie to the truth - those who enjoy the blessings of life [without any thought of God] - and bear thou with them for a little while: 11 We have prepared for them fetters, flaming fire, 12 choking food and a painful punishment. 13 On the day when the earth and the hills rock, and the hills become a heap of running sand. 14 Surely We have sent to you a Messenger as a witness over you, just as We had sent a Messenger to Pharaoh. 15 Then Fir'awn disobeyed the apostle, wherefore We laid hold of him with a painful hold. 16 How then, if you disbelieve, will you preserve yourselves on the day which will even turn the children hoary? 17 Whereon the heaven will be cleft asunder? His Promise is certainly to be accomplished. 18 This is a reminder. Let anyone who wants, seek guidance from his Lord. 19
