Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O thou enwrapped in thy robes, 1 Rise to pray in the night except a little, 2 A half of it or a little less 3 or a little more, but recite the Quran slowly and distinctly. 4 We are about to reveal to you a mighty word. 5 Indeed, the hours of the night are more effective for concurrence [of heart and tongue] and more suitable for words. 6 You have by day prolonged occupations [with Dawah work]. 7 And remember thou the name of thy Lord, and devote thyself to Him with an exclusive devotion. 8 Lord of the East and the West; there is no Allah save Him; so choose thou Him alone for thy defender - 9 And have patience with what they say, and leave them with noble (dignity). 10 Leave to Me those who belie, those who lead a life of pleasure, and bear with them yet a little while. 11 Verily with Us are heavy fetters and Scorch. 12 And a food that chokes, and a painful torment. 13 On a day when the earth and the mountains will tremble, and the mountains turn into dunes of flowing sand. 14 Surely We have sent to you a Messenger as a witness over you, just as We had sent a Messenger to Pharaoh. 15 But Pharaoh disobeyed the messenger; so We seized him with a heavy Punishment. 16 How, then, if you refuse to acknowledge the truth, will you protect yourselves on that Day which shall turn the hair of children grey, 17 on which the heaven will split apart, and His promise is done. 18 Indeed, this is a reminder, so whoever wills may take to his Lord a way. 19
