Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
O you (Prophet Muhammad) wrapped, 1 Keep watch all the night except some, 2 A half thereof, or abate a little thereof, 3 Or a little more; and recite the Qur'an in slow, measured rhythmic tones. 4 We shall soon entrust to you a message heavy (with solemnity). 5 Surely getting up at night is the best means of subduing the self and is more suitable for uprightness in speech. 6 You have by day prolonged occupations [with Dawah work]. 7 But recite the name of your Lord withdrawing yourself from everything, devoting yourself exclusively to Him. 8 The Sustainer of the east and the west [is He]: there is no deity save Him: hence, ascribe to Him alone the power to determine thy fate, 9 And bear patiently the vain things they utter, and gracefully forsake them. 10 And let Me alone with the beliers, owners of ease: and respite thou them a little. 11 Verily We shall have fetters with Us, and a roaring furnace, 12 food which chokes (them), and a painful torment. 13 On the day when the earth and the mountains shall quake and the mountains shall become (as) heaps of sand let loose. 14 Surely We have sent unto you a Messenger as a witness over you, even as We sent to Pharaoh a Messenger, 15 However, the Pharaoh disobeyed the Messenger and We seized him with a severe retribution. 16 If therefore you disbelieve, how will you guard yourselves against a day that shall make the children grey-headed? 17 the Day whose severity shall cause the heaven to split asunder? Allah's promise is ever bound to be fulfilled. 18 This, surely, is an admonition. So let him who will, take the right path to his Lord. 19
