Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O you the (sleeping) enwrapped one! 1 Stand (to prayer) by night, but not all night,- 2 A half thereof, or abate a little thereof, 3 or add to it a little; and recite the Qur'an slowly and distinctly. 4 Indeed We shall soon ordain a heavy responsibility upon you. 5 Indeed, the first part of night is heavier in tread, and more upright in speech. 6 Verily there is for thee by day occupation prolonged. 7 But keep in remembrance the name of thy Lord and devote thyself to Him whole-heartedly. 8 Lord of the East and the West; there is no Allah save Him; so choose thou Him alone for thy defender - 9 And be patient (O Muhammad SAW) with what they say, and keep away from them in a good way. 10 And leave Me (alone to deal with) those in possession of the good things of life, who (yet) deny the Truth; and bear with them for a little while. 11 for with Us there are fetters, and a furnace, 12 food that chokes and painful punishment 13 On a Day whereon the earth and the mountains shall quake, and the mountains shall become a sand-heap poured forth. 14 We have indeed sent a Noble Messenger towards you, a present witness over you – the way We had sent a Noble Messenger towards Firaun. 15 But Pharaoh rebelled against the messenger, whereupon We seized him with no gentle grip. 16 How then, if you disbelieve, will you preserve yourselves on the day which will even turn the children hoary? 17 On that day, the heavens will be rent asunder. This is the decree of God which has already been ordained. 18 This is a reminder. Let anyone who wants, seek guidance from his Lord. 19
