Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O THOU enwrapped one! 1 worship (God) for a few hours at night. 2 (a half of it, or diminish a little, 3 or add a little), and chant the Koran very distinctly; 4 For We are about to send down to you a message of considerable gravity. 5 Truly the rising by night is most potent for governing (the soul), and most suitable for (framing) the Word (of Prayer and Praise). 6 Verily, there is for you by day prolonged occupation with ordinary duties, 7 But [whether by night or by day,] remember thy Sustainer's name, and devote thyself unto Him with utter devotion. 8 The Sustainer of the east and the west [is He]: there is no deity save Him: hence, ascribe to Him alone the power to determine thy fate, 9 And bear thou with patience whatsoever they say, and depart from them with a becoming departure. 10 Leave it to Me to deal with the deniers, who live a life of comfort, and bear with them a little longer. 11 We have in store for them heavy fetters and a blazing Fire, 12 And a food that chokes, and a painful torment. 13 On the Day when the earth and the mountains will be in violent shake, and the mountains will be a heap of sand poured out and flowing down. 14 We have sent you a Messenger, who will witness your deeds, just as We sent a Messenger to the Pharaoh. 15 But Pharaoh disobeyed Our Messenger, so We seized him with a terrible seizing. 16 If you persist in disbelieving, how will you guard yourself against the (woe of the) Day that will turn children grey-haired, 17 Whereby heaven shall be split, and its promise shall be performed. 18 Surely this is a reminder, then let him, who will take the way to his Lord. 19
