The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O, you, wrapped in your cloak, 1 Arise and warn, 2 And your Lord glorify 3 And your garments do purify, 4 And uncleanness do shun, 5 Give not, thinking to gain greater 6 For the sake of thy Lord, be patient! 7 For when the Trump is sounded 8 So that is a tough day. 9 For the infidels, not easy. 10 Leave Me with him whom I alone have created, 11 And gave him vast wealth. 12 and sons ever present with him, 13 And I adjusted affairs for him adjustably; 14 and yet, he greedily desires that I give yet more! 15 Never! For he is an enemy to Our signs! 16 I will cover him with arduous torment. 17 Indeed, he thought and deliberated. 18 Ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 19 Again, death seize him, how he determined! 20 Then he thought; 21 Then frowned he and scowled. 22 Then he turned away, and was haughty. 23 And said, “This is nothing but magic learnt from earlier men.” 24 This is naught but the word of a mortal. 25 Soon I will cast him into hell. 26 And what have you understood, what hell is! 27 It spares not, neither leaves alone 28 making [all truth] visible to mortal man. 29 over it are nineteen. 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
