The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
O you (Muhammad SAW) enveloped (in garments)! 1 Arise and deliver thy warning! 2 And thy Sustainer's greatness glorify! 3 cleanse your clothes, 4 and flee from the statues! 5 And do not confer favor to acquire more 6 And persevere in the way of your Lord. 7 For when the Trump is sounded 8 That, at that time, shall be a difficult day, 9 It will not be easy for those who deny the truth. 10 Leave Me Alone (to deal) with whom I created Alone (without any means, i.e. Al-Walid bin Al-Mughirah Al-Makhzumi)! 11 and to whom I have granted resources vast, 12 and sons to be by his side, 13 And I adjusted affairs for him adjustably; 14 and yet, he greedily desires that I give him even more! 15 By no means! surely he offers opposition to Our communications. 16 [and so] I shall constrain him to endure a painful uphill climb! 17 Indeed, he thought and deliberated. 18 Perish he! How maliciously he devised! 19 And again perish he! How maliciously he devised! 20 Then he looked round; 21 Then he frowned and scowled, 22 Then he turned back and was big with pride, 23 And said: "This is nothing but the magic of old, 24 This is naught but the word of a mortal. 25 [Hence,] I shall cause him to endure hell-fire [in the life to come]! 26 What do you think Hell-fire is? 27 It spares not (any sinner), nor does it leave (anything unburnt)! 28 It scorches the mortal. 29 Over it are nineteen [powers]. 30 We have not appointed the guards of hell, except angels; and did not keep this number except to test the disbelievers – in order that the People given the Book(s) may be convinced, and to increase the faith of the believers – and so that the People given the Book(s) and the Muslims may not have any doubt – and so that those in whose hearts is a disease and the disbelievers, may say, “What does Allah mean by this amazing example?” This is how Allah sends astray whomever He wills, and guides whomever He wills; and no one knows the armies of Allah except Him; and this is not but an advice to man. 31
