The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
O thou shrouded in thy mantle, 1 stand up, deliver your warning, 2 proclaim the greatness of your Lord, 3 and purify your clothing, 4 And keep away from Ar-Rujz (the idols)! 5 And bestow not favour that thou mayest receive more. 6 be patient unto your Lord. 7 For when the trumpet is sounded, 8 that Day will be a hard and distressing Day. 9 Far from easy for those without Faith. 10 Leave Me with him whom I alone have created, 11 and appointed for him ample wealth 12 And sons to be by his side!- 13 And made several preparations for him. 14 And who yet coveteth that shall increase. 15 By no means! He has been stubbornly hostile to Our revelation: 16 I will cover him with arduous torment. 17 Indeed, he thought and deliberated. 18 But may he be cursed how he plotted; 19 And once more let him be cursed, how he plotted! 20 Then he looked around, 21 Then he frowned and he looked in a bad tempered way; 22 Then he turned away, and was haughty. 23 He said, 'This is naught but a trumped-up sorcery; 24 This is nothing but the word of mortal man!" 25 Him shall I fling unto the burning. 26 What do you think Hell-fire is? 27 It does not allow to live, and neither leaves [to die,] 28 it scorches the skin; 29 Over it are nineteen (angels as guardians and keepers of Hell). 30 And We have set none but angels as guardians of the Fire, and We have fixed their number (19) only as a trial for the disbelievers, in order that the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) may arrive at a certainty [that this Quran is the truth as it agrees with their Books i.e. their number (19) is written in the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)] and the believers may increase in Faith (as this Quran is the truth) and that no doubts may be left for the people of the Scripture and the believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease (of hypocrisy) and the disbelievers may say: "What Allah intends by this (curious) example?" Thus Allah leads astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none can know the hosts of your Lord but He. And this (Hell) is nothing else than a (warning) reminder to mankind. 31

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
