The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O you (Muhammad SAW) enveloped (in garments)! 1 arise, and warn! 2 Glorify your Lord, 3 And thy garments keep free from stain! 4 And banish all trepidation. 5 do not bestow a favour in the expectation of receiving more in return; 6 And for the sake of your Lord, patiently endure. 7 For when the Trump is sounded 8 Truly, that Day will be a Hard Day. 9 Far from easy for those without Faith. 10 Leave him to Me, the one whom I created single. 11 and whom I have granted abundant wealth 12 And children to be by his side! 13 To whom I made (life) smooth and comfortable! 14 and yet, he greedily desires that I give him even more! 15 Nay, verily, it is against Our messages that he knowingly, stubbornly sets himself 16 I shall inflict on him hardship, 17 Lo! He reflected, and determined -- 18 Ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 19 Again (self-)destroyed is he, how he planned! - 20 Then he looked around, 21 then he frowned and scowled, 22 Then he turned back and was big with pride, 23 And said: "This is nothing but the magic of old, 24 this is nothing but the word of a mere mortal!” 25 I shall make him suffer the torment of hell. 26 And what have you understood, what hell is! 27 It spares not, neither leaves alone 28 scorching the flesh; 29 Over it are nineteen [powers]. 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
