The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O you who are clothed! 1 Arise and warn! 2 And proclaim the Purity of your Lord. 3 Thy raiment purify, 4 And all defilement shun! 5 Do not give, thinking to gain greater 6 And for the sake of your Lord, be patient. 7 For when the trumpet blows 8 that will surely be a hard day, 9 for the unbelievers not easy. 10 Leave Me Alone (to deal) with whom I created Alone (without any means, i.e. Al-Walid bin Al-Mughirah Al-Makhzumi)! 11 And gave him vast wealth. 12 And children to be by his side! 13 and whom I have provided with every resource, 14 Yet he desireth that I should give more. 15 By no means! He has been stubbornly hostile to Our revelation: 16 I will cover him with arduous torment. 17 Surely he reflected and guessed, 18 death seized him, how was his determining! 19 Let him be destroyed. How he calculated! 20 Then he beheld, 21 Then frowned and grimaced. 22 Then he turned back and was big with pride, 23 Then he said: naught is this but magic from of old; 24 this is nothing but the word of a mere mortal!” 25 Soon will I cast him into Hell-Fire! 26 And what do you know what Hell is? 27 It neither spares, nor releases, 28 scorching the flesh; 29 Over it are nineteen [angels]. 30 We have appointed only angels to be wardens of the Fire, and their number have We made to be a stumbling-block for those who disbelieve; that those to whom the Scripture hath been given may have certainty, and that believers may increase in faith; and that those to whom the Scripture hath been given and believers may not doubt; and that those in whose hearts there is disease, and disbelievers, may say: What meaneth Allah by this similitude? Thus Allah sendeth astray whom He will, and whom He will He guideth. None knoweth the hosts of thy Lord save Him. This is naught else than a Reminder unto mortals. 31
