The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
O thou enveloped in thy cloak, 1 Arise and warn! 2 And thy Sustainer's greatness glorify! 3 Purify your inner self, 4 And keep away from Ar-Rujz (the idols)! 5 and do not think that by doing such deeds, you have done a great favor to God. 6 be patient unto your Lord. 7 And [warn all men that] when the trumpet-call [of resurrection] is sounded, 8 So that is a tough day. 9 It will not be easy for those who deny the truth. 10 Leave to Me the one, whom I have created all by Myself, 11 And give him vast riches, 12 and sons ever present with him, 13 And made several preparations for him. 14 Yet is he greedy-that I should add (yet more);- 15 Never! For he is an enemy to Our signs! 16 I will constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 For he thought and he plotted;- 18 (Self-)destroyed is he, how he planned! 19 Let him be destroyed. How he calculated! 20 Then he looked round; 21 Then frowned and grimaced. 22 Then turned he back, and grew stiff-necked. 23 And said, "This is not but magic imitated [from others]. 24 "This is nothing but the word of a mortal!" 25 I will soon fling him into hell. 26 and what will teach thee what is Sakar? 27 It leaves naught nor does it spare aught. 28 It strips away the hide of man. 29 Over it are Nineteen. 30 And We have set none but angels as guardians of the Fire, and We have fixed their number (19) only as a trial for the disbelievers, in order that the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) may arrive at a certainty [that this Quran is the truth as it agrees with their Books i.e. their number (19) is written in the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)] and the believers may increase in Faith (as this Quran is the truth) and that no doubts may be left for the people of the Scripture and the believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease (of hypocrisy) and the disbelievers may say: "What Allah intends by this (curious) example?" Thus Allah leads astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none can know the hosts of your Lord but He. And this (Hell) is nothing else than a (warning) reminder to mankind. 31
