The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O you who covers himself [with a garment], 1 Rise up and warn! 2 proclaim the greatness of your Lord, 3 and purify your robes, 4 And uncleanliness avoid 5 And give not a thing in order to have more (or consider not your deeds of Allah's obedience as a favour to Allah). 6 And be patient for the sake of your Lord (i.e. perform your duty to Allah)! 7 When the Trumpet shall be sounded, 8 So that is a tough day. 9 Far from easy for those without Faith. 10 Leave Me alone with he whom I created 11 And then granted him resources in abundance. 12 And sons to be by his side!- 13 And for whom I smoothed everything. 14 Yet he wants that I should give him more. 15 Never will he receive more. He has been hostile to Our revelations. 16 Anon I shall afflict him with a fearful woe. 17 Indeed, he thought and deliberated. 18 So accursed be he, how evilly did he decide! 19 Again, may he be cursed how he plotted; 20 Then he looked, 21 Then frowned and grimaced. 22 Then he turned away, and was haughty. 23 And said: This is naught else than magic from of old; 24 this is nothing but the word of a mere mortal!” 25 I will cast him into hell. 26 And what will explain to thee what Hell-Fire is? 27 It leaves nothing, nor does it spare; 28 Burning the skins! 29 Above it are nineteen. 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
