The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O you (Muhammad SAW) enveloped (in garments)! 1 Arise and warn, 2 Proclaim the glory of your Lord; 3 And keep your clothes clean. 4 And all abomination shun! 5 and bestow not favour in order to seek from others a greater return, 6 Exercise patience to please your Lord. 7 For when the trumpet blows 8 That shall be - that Day - a day hard. 9 Far from easy for the disbelievers. 10 Leave Me with him whom I created alone, 11 And then granted him resources in abundance. 12 and sons to be by his side, 13 And for whom I smoothed everything. 14 After all that he desires that I should give more; 15 Never. He is refractory of Our signs. 16 I will cover him with arduous torment. 17 For he thought and he plotted -- 18 And woe to him! How he plotted!- 19 May be then be accursed, how he plotted! 20 Then looked he, 21 Then he frowned and scowled, 22 then turned back, and swelling-up with pride, 23 And said: "This is nothing but the magic of old, 24 Naught is this but the word of Man. 25 I will surely roast him in the Scorching. 26 What could make you conceive what hell-fire is? 27 It spares nothing; it leaves nothing intact; 28 it scorches (even) the skin. 29 Over it are nineteen. 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
