NAY, but consider the moon! 32 And the night when it departs, 33 And [by] the morning when it brightens, 34 Verily, that [hell-fire] is Indeed one of the great [forewarnings] 35 As a warning unto men, 36 For the one among you who wishes to come forward or stay back. 37 Every soul is held in pledge against its own deeds, 38 Except those of the right hand 39 In gardens they will ask one another 40 and will ask of the criminals, 41 What has brought you into hell? 42 They will say: "We were not of those who used to offer their Salat (prayers) 43 And we used not to feed the poor; 44 We used to wade (in vain dispute) with (all) waders, 45 "And we used to belie the Day of Recompense 46 until certainty came upon us [in death]." 47 Then will no intercession of (any) intercessors profit them. 48 If such will be the Day of Judgment, what is the matter with them? Why do they run away from guidance, 49 As if they were startled donkeys – 50 fleeing -- before a lion? 51 Yea, everyone of them claims that he [himself] ought to have been given revelations unfolded! 52 No, indeed they have no fear of the Everlasting Life. 53 but this is truly a reminder. 54 Let any who will, keep it in remembrance! 55 And they will not remember except that Allah wills. He is worthy of fear and adequate for [granting] forgiveness. 56
