Nay! By the moon 32 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 33 and by the day when it dawns (with its radiance), 34 Lo! this is one of the greatest (portents) 35 a warning to mortal man 36 to whoever among you desires to go forward, or lag behind. 37 Every soul is a pledge for its own deeds; 38 save those who shall have attained to righteousness: 39 (They will be) in Gardens (of Delight): they will question each other, 40 concerning the sinners, 41 "What has brought you into the Fire of Hell ?" 42 They will say: we have not been of those who prayed. 43 nor did we feed the destitute. 44 and we were wont to indulge in sinning together with all [the others] who indulged in it; 45 and we cried lies to the Day of Doom, 46 Till the Inevitable came unto us. 47 The intercession of their intercessors shall not benefit them. 48 Then what is the matter with them that they turn away from admonition?- 49 as though they were terrified asses 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 Forsooth, each one of them wants to be given scrolls (of revelation) spread out! 52 No indeed; the truth is that they have no fear of the Hereafter. 53 No, indeed, surely, this is a Reminder. 54 and whoever wills may take it to heart. 55 But they [who do not believe in the life to come] will not take it to heart unless God so wills: [for] He is the Fount of all God-consciousness, and the Fount of all forgiveness. 56
