Nay, by the moon, 32 And the night when it departs, 33 By the dawn when it lightens! 34 Indeed hell is one of the greatest entities. 35 as a warner to mortals. 36 alike to every one of you, who want to go forward or hang back. 37 Every soul will be (held) in pledge for its deeds. 38 Save those who will stand on the right hand. 39 In gardens, they shall ask each other 40 About the guilty: 41 "What was it that brought you to Hell?" 42 They shall say: We were not of those who prayed; 43 “Nor used to feed the needy.” 44 and we plunged along with the plungers, 45 And we have been belying the Day of Requital. 46 "Until there came to us (the Hour) that is certain." 47 The mediation of no mediators will avail them then. 48 What aileth them, therefore, that they are from the admonition turning away? 49 as though they were terrified asses 50 running away from a lion? 51 In fact every one of them wants to be given open books (like the prophets). 52 No, indeed they have no fear of the Everlasting Life. 53 No, indeed, surely, this is a Reminder. 54 So whoever pleases may mind it. 55 But they [who do not believe in the life to come] will not take it to heart unless God so wills: [for] He is the Fount of all God-consciousness, and the Fount of all forgiveness. 56
