Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ I CALL TO WITNESS the Day of Resurrection, 1 and by the self-reproaching soul! 2 Do men think that We shall never be able to assemble their bones? 3 Yes indeed; We are able to shape again his fingers. 4 Aye! man desireth that he may sin before him. 5 'When will the Day of Resurrection be' he asks, 6 So when the eyes will be blinded by light. 7 And the moon is eclipsed 8 And the sun and moon will be joined together (by going one into the other or folded up or deprived of their light, etc.) 9 on that Day will man say: “Whither the refuge?” 10 Never so, for there will be no escape. 11 With your Lord alone shall on that day be the place of rest. 12 To man will be declared on that Day that which he hath sent on and left behind. 13 He shall be a clear proof against himself, 14 even though he offer his excuses. 15 Move not thy tongue with it to hasten it; 16 Indeed, upon Us is its collection [in your heart] and [to make possible] its recitation. 17 When We have recited it, follow its words attentively; 18 and then, behold, it will be for Us to make its meaning clear. 19 Yet you love this hasty world 20 and neglect the Hereafter. 21 Some faces, that Day, will beam (in brightness and beauty);- 22 Looking toward their Lord. 23 And some faces, that Day, will be Basirah (dark, gloomy, frowning, and sad), 24 Thou wilt know that some great disaster is about to fall on them. 25 By no means! When it cometh up to the collar-bone. 26 and when it is asked: "Could any magician save him now?"; 27 the while he [himself] knows that this is the parting, 28 And one leg will be joined with another: 29 that will be the time to be driven to one's Lord. 30
